This weekend several county archers travelled up to Great Glen near Leicester to take part in Bowmen of Glen’s FITA weekend. The competition comprised of a FITA Star on the Saturday and a Double 720 on the Sunday.
The heavy wind and rain forecast for the Saturday stayed away. But still some tricky gusts at the target end of the field made the longer distances difficult in the morning.
Jude Hall of WOAC stayed at the top of the Ladies Compound leader board throughout the day finishing with a great score 0f 1295 and a new county record for the Long Metric Ladies with 647. Josh Hall found himself in 4th place in the overall Ladies FITA results with another great Metric I score of 1254. Helen Neumann also of WOAC shot very well in her first FITA Star event to finish 6th with 1196.
Frances Bull of Targetcraft Archers finished in a very respectable 4th place in the Ladies Recurve with 1078.
Gary Hall of WOAC shot well and finished in 5th place in the Gents Compound. Jon Bull of Targetcraft shot his first senior Gents FITA round and scored a very respectable 1240 which would have placed him in 7th place overall. Nick Forster of Nene Bowmen scored his first 1200 FITA with 1200 on the nose! Daniel Watt of WOAC finished in 9th with 1194.
In the Gents Recurve, Ian Hannaford of WOAC shot a new personal best with 1182, including a PB for 30m with 338. Ian finished in 4th place overall just a few points behind Lee Williams of Meriden with 1185. Dean Edwards also of WOAC recovered after a difficult morning to also finish with 1182, to place 5th with fewer golds than Ian.
