2012 Olympics coming to Northants

Eric Jackson - Development Officer

Rushden and Diamonds Football Club (RDFC) submitted a bid to host a training
camp for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Their bid included the ability to
host the following sports: Archery, fencing, football, judo, table tennis
and wrestling.

RDFC were successful with their bid. They are the only one in Northamptonshire and
one of only four in the East Midlands (two in Derbyshire and one in Nottinghamshire).

On behalf of NCAS I approached the CEO of RDFC, Helen Thompson,
to see how we, Archery and RDFC, could benefit from the success of the bid.
A Photo shoot with some of the county team and archers from WOAC, was the
first of a few ideas floated. Others include a 'Have a Go' and a 'Come and Try'
session for the RDFC over 50's supporters.

Good Results for County Archers at GNAM

Congratulations to John Inkley on coming third this years Grand National Archery Meeting on 25th-27th June.
The conditions were very bad indeed with the second day being stopped for safety reasons the remainder of the shoot was shot on the third day to complete the tournament, no National round was shot this year.
Nick Forster finished in a very respectable 9th place overall

High winds at the NCAS 2nd Caswell Shoot

Very gusty conditions throughtout the day made it very tricky for shooting,
so with everyone in agreement the judges changed the shoot to National rounds part way through the first distance. A few archers retired but many stayed
to finish the day.
