Significant Rule Change – Multiple Round Sighters

ArcheryGB have recently made a significant change to the rules of shooting regarding sighters for multiple rounds.

From 1st October 2016, archers may now shoot sighter arrows prior to each round shot at the same venue on the same day. This brings ArcheryGB rounds more into line with WA rounds, except you still shoot the required number of sighter arrows for that round rather than having ‘practice’.

This means that national, regional and county records CAN be claimed for the second (or third, or fourth) round shot at the same venue on the same day, irrespective of round and bowstyle.

For example: if you shoot two Portsmouth rounds as a Double Portsmouth. It used to be that you could only claim a record for the first round shot, irrespective of bowstyle. But now you can claim a record for the second round if the score is better than the first round. You can also claim a record if you have changed bowstyle for the second round.

Another example: at the Duston Bowmen Triple (David Clarke Memorial), an archer can shoot all three rounds (Worcester, Vegas and Portsmouth) with three different bowstyles and claim records for any or all round scores on the day.
