NCAS Juniors had a fantastic weekend at the Junior Nationals on 2nd & 3rd July at Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Shropshire. One national record was achieved and a whole bunch of new county records too.
Congratulations to Bradley Denny of Archers of Raunds for retaining the title of Junior National Outdoor Champion for his age group shooting fantastically well on both days. On the Saturday Brad scored 1337 for a Metric III round placing him in 1st place. Improving on his own previous score of 1265 achieved in August of last year. On the Sunday Brad shot a new National Record with 1270 for a Bristol III round, two points above the previous score of 1268. This is of course a new county record too improving on the previous score of 1182 set by Jon Bull in Oct 2007 while he was still shooting recurve.
David Forster of Nene Bowmen represented England for the second time during Saturdays Home Nations event, helping the team to a comfortable win over Northern Ireland. David finished in 2nd place in the Metric I round with a fantastic score of 1269. Improving upon his own previous Junior Gents Recurve record of 1223 from August last year. On the Sunday David finished in 6th place in the Bristol I round with 1129.
Jon Bull of Targetcraft Archers continues to impress with a great 5th place finish on the Saturday with another Metric I Junior Gents Compound record of 1351. Improving upon his own previous record score of 1325 achieved back in April. Jon finished in 9th place on the Sunday with a great Bristol I score of 1238 just 10 points off James Mason’s record of 1248.
Katherine Langton of Wicken Archery Club shot brilliantly in her first national competition finishing in 9th place on the Saturday with 1177. Improving upon her own very recent Junior Ladies Recurve record of 1098. Katherine then finished 8th place on the sunday with a new county record score of 1119 again improving upon her own recent record of 994.
