David Forster wins at Clophill

Well done to county junior archer David Forster for winning the Saturday Gents Recurve head to head knockout event at the Clophill FITA Fest. In tricky windy weather, David scored 600 points in the qualifying 70m round seeding him in 5th place. In the semi finals David beat GB team member Sean Evans 6-4 to reach the final, where local archer Jamie Adams was David’s opponent, who he beat 6-4 to win.

Lizzie Cantopher of Wellingborough Open Archery Club shot really well getting all the way to the Ladies Recurve semi finals on the Sunday beaten eventual by Sarah Russell of Clophill 7-3. In the third place shoot off Lizzie took Kayleigh Bunker of Newport Pagnell Archers to 5-5 with the match decided by a one arrow shoot off in favour of Kayleigh.

James Mason of Wellingborough Open Archery Club was unlucky not to progress further on the Saturday after a close Gents Compound quarter final match against Jake Bunce 140-139. James came away setting brand new county records for both the 50m 720 qualifying round with 641, and his 139 15 arrow pass.

Ian Hannaford also of Wellingborough Open Archery Club shot well both days reaching the 3rd round on the Saturday. On the Sunday Ian’s morning score of 583 seeding him in 9th place and he went on to reach the second round of the head to heads.
