David Clarke

The county is sad to inform you that David Clarke has passed away.

David was our most senior coach, having trained most of the older coaches in the county. He maintained oversight of more recent courses as moderator, but retired from active coaching some years ago due to ill health.

A former Chairman and many time county champion, David had been a member of NCAS since 1950, and masterminded the very successful 50th Anniversary Celebrations in Millennium Year.

Fittingly in 2008 David was Gentleman Patron at the 50th Anniversary of the EMAS Senior Inter-Counties Tournament, otherwise known as The Thoresby Trophy Shoot. David shot for Northamptonshire in the very first event in 1958 held on the grounds of Thoresby Hall in Nottinghamshire.

In 1988 David become British Archery Team Manager ahead of the successful Barcelona Olympics in 1992 where the team won individual and team medals.

David was also long time President and member of British Timken Bowmen, who recently changed their name to Duston Bowmen.

The details of David’s funeral will be published when available.
