County Records Update April 2011

The outdoor season has just begun and already county archers are breaking records.

Well done to Leonie Allen of Targetcraft Junior Archers for achieving two new record scores. The first came at the EMAS Youth Squad shoot at Bowmen of Glen on 10th April where Leonie shot 1073 points for a Metric III round. The previous record was held by Emma McHarg of Kettering Archers since May 2009. The second came a week later at Nene Bowmen’s Ken Inkley memorial shoot at Ferry Meadows in Peterborough. Leonie scored 583 for an American round. Alice Croson of Nene Bowm held the previous record of 546 since May 2004.

Martin Ross of Long Buckby Archery Club achieved a maximum gents compound score of 810 at the Ken Inkley Memorial shoot. This equals Stuart Morris’ record set at this shoot in April 2006.

David Forster of Nene Bowmen has had a fantastic start to his outdoor season, achieving his first senior master bowmen score at the EMAS Youth Squad shoot at Bowmen of Glen on 10th April. David (still a junior archer) scored 1195 for a Gents FITA round which is a new Junior Gents Recurve record (to be ratified) and breaking several distance records in the process. David is at Lilleshall this weekend (23rd & 24th April) taking part in the selection shoot for World Championships held in Italy in July.

Also at the Ken Inkley Memorial shoot, David scored a new Junior Gents Recurve record for an American round with 778 (to be ratified). Beating his own record from last year of 770.

There have also been some Indoor records too as the season closed.

Angela Plater also of Nene Bowmen has a new Ladies Longbow record score for a Worcester round with 96.
