Lizzie Gets Bronze in Nottingham!

Northants Archers Lizzie Cantopher of Northampton AC and Jon Bull of Targetcraft Archers, took part in the Nottingham Building Society, National Series Grand Final this weekend, 30th & 31st August, at the spectacular Wollaton Hall.

The Grand Final is made up of eight archers for each discipline; Gents Recurve, Ladies Recurve, Gents Compound and Ladies Compound. To qualify, the archers must gain enough points from several series events during the summer, with the top eight making it through.

On the Saturday, Lizzie shot fantastically well in the Ladies Recurve event. Making it to the semi finals and eventually winning the bronze medal by beating Ruth Welsh 6-2. When asked about her achievement she said: “It’s brilliant, I didn’t think I could do it and it just shows that archery is not just for young people.” ”It just shows what you can do when you break out of your comfort zone. It doesn’t matter how old you are, anything is achievable!” She also thanked her coach, Maggie Squires.

Jon shot in the Gents Compound event on the Sunday, but was beaten 146-134 by Matt Arnold in their quarter final match.
