Congratulations to Susan Corless of Northampton Archery Club, for winning Northampton Sport Awards Local Sportswoman of the Year for the third year in a row, at The Guildhall in Northampton on 16th October.
Susan won this years award against some tough competition, after being shortlisted for the 5th year running. The award highlights yet another great year for Susan, who won a team silver medal at the Berlin stage of the Archery World Cup in July. Winning the British Target Championships in August, and also qualified for the Archery GB National Tour finals in October.
Ahead of the 2019/20 Chris Mason Celebration League, which starts with this Sunday’s Kettering Archers Chris Mason Memorial Worcester Shoot, the points system has been revised slightly to award all archers for attending and shooting regardless of category. The additional points for placing 3rd, 2nd or 1st, will still only apply to those how have shot within category.
For clarity, shooting within category means that archers shoot the correct round and distance for their age-group and gender. A list of the outdoor rounds including age groups can be found here.
The points system is as follows:
– 3 points for attending, regardless of category
– 3 points for first, 2 points for second, 1 point for third (when 3 or more archers shooting in a bowstyle, within category)
– 2 points for first, 1 point for second (when only 2 archers are shooting in a bowstyle, within category)
– 1 point (when only 1 archer shooting in a bowstyle, within category)
The full rules for the league can be found here. Please contact the County Records Officer, Dean Edwards if you have any questions.
