A number of Portsmouth county records were broken at Wellingborough OAC’s annual open indoor tournament on 12th & 13th November 2011.
Dean Edwards and James Mason both of WOAC, battled it out until the last few arrows in the first round of the Sunday. Dean finished with 590 points just a single point ahead of James on 589! Both scores eclipsing the previous record of 586 set by James at this same event in 2009.
Dean repeated the very same 590 score in the second round giving him a new county record for the Double Portsmouth with 1180.
James went on to break the county record for the Triple Portsmouth with 1756 (589, 578, 584).
Lizzie Cantopher also of WOAC broke the Ladies Recurve record for the Double Portsmouth with 1136 (567, 569).
Lincolnshire were the winners of the coverted Thoresby Trophy at this years EMAS Senior Inter-counties Team Tournament held on 4th September at Washingborough near Lincoln. The host county won the event for the first time in the 53 year history of the shoot.
Northamptonshire were once again short of a full team which might have seen us put in a good challenge. Dean Edwards and James Mason finished 1st and 4th respectively in the gents recurve standings. Shahram Montasser also shot very well finishing in 6th place with a new PB of 1027.
Jude Hall finished in 3rd place in the ladies compound with 1208. Helen Nuemann shot really well in here first county shoot with 1109. Frances Bull finished in 7th place overall in the ladies recurve with 1028. Lizzie Cantopher finished 13th with 963.

Dean Edwards of WOAC has shot a new 50m gents recurve county record at this years UK Masters at Lilleshall on 5th June 2011. His score of 317 for the 50m distance section of a Gents FITA round beat the previous record of 315 which stood since 1982, was held by Keith Muspratt then of Northampton Archery Club. Results
Dean has also broken the gents recurve record for a FITA 720 round with a score of 623. The previous record of 619 was held by John Inkley of Nene Bowmen since June 2006. Dean achieved the new record at Rivernook Bowmen’s WRS event in Surrey on 11th June 2011. Results
