Stolen Equipment!

A member of Corby Archers had their car broken into on 1st October, with the following kits being taken.

1 x Adult r/h Samick Bow Black 25″ with 34lb limbs Black Sheep stabilisers Avalon Tec One sight. Blue Avalon Bag.

1 x Hoyt Excell Blue 23″, Blue stabaliser, with Blue Shubuyi Sight in Avalon bag 20lb limbs short. Pink Avalon Bag.

1 x Samick 23 inch Gold Bow with 18 lb short limbs’ Cartel Long Rod (This is quite rare as it has been professionally painted Gold and Lacquered) Black RcX Bag. Shubyu SUper Sight.

1 x Kenetic 23 Inch Purple riser with 14lb limbs, Cartel Long Rod, Avalon Sight. Light Blue Avalon Bag.

Corby Archers are hosting their first Open Junior Tournament on Sunday 13th August 2023.

Head to Heads
The head to head is based on rankings from the morning session. It is all archers shooting 10 metres in 3 arrow ends, 12 arrows in total. The highest
scorers go through. In the event of a draw it is a single arrow shoot off with the winning arrow being the nearest to the centre.

County Records at Bowmen of Rutland WA Combined

County Records at Bowmen of Rutland WA Combined

Plenty of county records were broken at Bowmen of Rutland’s World Record Status WA Combined Tournament on 13th & 14th February 2016.

Thomas Marshall of Corby Archers achieved new Junior Gents Compound Under 12 county records for both the individual WA18m and WA25m rounds with 444 and 405 respectively. Meaning he also achieved a new record for the WA Combined round with 849.

Paul Hyde of Northampton AC broke the Gents Longbow records for the WA25m round with 438, the WA Combined round with 842, and set a new record for the Double WA Combined round with 1643.

And Susan Corless also of NAC broke her own Ladies Compound county record for the WA Combined round with 1138.

NCAS County & Open Outdoor Championships 2014

On Sunday 14th September, the 2014 Northamptonshire County & Open Championships were once again hosted by Wellingborough Open Archery Club.

Record Status & Rose Award Tournament.
Rounds: York, Hereford, Bristols I-V and National rounds in the afternoon.
The weather was overcast for most of the day with some sunny spells.

Several great scores were shot on the day along with at least two new county record scores. Russell Faulkner of Wellingborough OAC won the Gents Longbow category with a new county record score of 347. Susan Corless of Northampton AC won the Ladies Compound trophy with a record score of 1236. Shahram Montasser of Kettering Archers shot another great score of 1116 to win the Gents Recurve Trophy. Derek Bett shot an impressive 824 to win the Gents Barebow. Tim Bull of Targetcraft won the Gents Compound Trophy with 1106. Christine Marshall of Wellingborough OAC won the Ladies Recurve Trophy with 870. Katie Bayliss of Archers of Raunds won the Junior Ladies Recurve Bristol II with 991. And Neve Spence of Corby Archers won Junior Ladies Bristol V with 1124. Well done to the other medal winners on the day.

The county would like to thank Wellingborough OAC for once again doing a great job in organising and hosting the event.

Junior Nationals 2014

Northants Juniors turned up in force to the National Junior Outdoor Championships, held at Lilleshall on the 5th and 6th July. A total of 14 Juniors from Corby Archers, Archers of Raunds and Banbury Cross Archers had a very successful and enjoyable weekend, probably the most juniors Northants has ever seen attend, which was great to see.

On the Saturday they shot Metric rounds with some of the Corby Archers gaining top 3 positions. Sophia Eaves took the Barebow trophy in the Junior Ladies Metric V, Finley Lancashire coming 2nd in the Jnr Gents Recurve Metric IV and Isabelle Croyden coming 3rd in the Jnr ladies Barebow Metric IV. Katie Bayliss of Archers of Raunds was just outside the medals in 4th in the Jnr Ladies Metric II.

Sunday saw another good showing with Sophia again winning the Barebow Bristol V and Finley again coming 2nd in the Recurve Bristol IV. Northants were placed 5th overall out of 28 counties represented in the County Mixed Recurve competition with 4623 points, made up of Finley Lancashire (1194), Ruby Paul (1174), Neve Spence (1131) and Lyla Lancashire (1124), this is probably the highest position Northants has ever achieved at the Junior Nationals. Congratulations all.
