Bob Kaminski

Bob Kaminski

It is with great sadness that we inform the county of the passing of Bob Kaminski.

Bob passed away on Wednesday 21st December 2022. A beloved member of Wellingborough Open Archery Club, Bob represented the county many times mainly shooting recurve but also shot Longbow from time to time, and is the current Gents Longbow county record holder for the Albion round.

The county would like to pass our condolences to Bob’s family and to everyone at WOAC at this difficult time.

NCAS Archers at the Royal Toxophilite Society Invitational

NCAS Archers at the Royal Toxophilite Society Invitational

Every year the Royal Toxophilite Society hosts an invitational shoot, where archers are invited to represent either The Worshipful Company of Bowyers or The Worshipful Company of Fletchers.

Simon Wright of Wellingborough Open Archery Club was one of the Northamptonshire archers invited. Here’s his short report from the day.

“We received an invite quite some time ago, having been put forward by our team Captain Martin Ross to the Bowyers Prize Day, so not really knowing what to expect both myself and Bob Kaminski duly arrived at 9am in Burnham. Also present where Shahram Montasser from Kettering, Jeremy Beasley and Jennifer Ives from Banbury.

The venue was fantastic, very secluded surrounded by trees. The round we shot was a York. We all started precedings with tea on the lawn against the backdrop of their very ornate clubhouse.

With the company of archers from surrounding counties some had come from Devon! We shot the 1st distance and where all treated to sherry followed by a lavish lunch. We shot the York tox rules! we are still not sure what those are! Members of the Bowyers Association came round during the shoot to view proceedings they had very kindly sponsored the whole day. At the end of the day we had the prize giving and were treated to cakes and scones and tea!

I have to say it was a fantastic day and we where made to feel most welcome. Really was a fantastic day that will stick in my mind for a long time to come.”
