Deb’s Story

Deb’s Story

This great short film featuring Deb Wright of Pemberton Maid Marions, was funded by Northamptonshire County Council to help with their ‘Get Connected’ campaign targeting social isolation.

Deb’s message is that she hopes the archery world will take up this opportunity to get the message out to all people that the sport of archery is accessible to all of us.

Deb also pre-recorded a piece which aired on BBC radio Northampton to help promote the campaign.

Since the film was produced, Deb has competed at the British Blind Sports National Indoor Championships, where she broke three national records, the WA25, WA18 & Combined FITA.
She also came home with three trophies:
2016 British Blind Sports National Indoor Champion for VI Open First Place
The David Christie Memorial Trophy for best improved handicap (went with handicap rating of 61 and came home with a handicap rating of 50)
Also the 2016 Worcester VI Team Challenge trophy (1 of 3 trophies awarded to Deb and team members John Cunnington and Graham Walker)

This was her first time competing at the Indoor Championships for British Blind Sport, she is now the Indoor and Outdoor VI Open National Champion for British Blind Sports.

Deb also won first place last September at her first British Blind Sports National Outdoor Championship 2015, set a National record for the WA1440/VIIRII and won a second place silver medal the following day for a Long Metric 4.

Congratulations to Deb for all her fantastic achievements.

Brad Returns from Youth Olympics

Brad Returns from Youth Olympics

Bradley Denny of Archers of Raunds returned from China this week where he competed in the Youth Olympic Games. This is what he had to say about his experience on his Facebook page.

“I have really enjoyed competing in the Youth Olympic Games. I have had my best individual result at international competition so far! Being knocked out in the 1/4 finals and with a final rank of 8th. I’m even more pleased with our shooting in the mix team, also getting knocked out in the 1/4 finals being decided with a shoot-off and with a final rank of 5th place.

I would seriously like to Thank friends and family and the support they showed for me from back home, on this particular trip being in China for so long, it was very helpful! All the words of encouragement were really nice to read and know that so many people are behind me!”
