Archery GB’s New ‘Boost Archery’ Funding Scheme

Wellingborough Open Archery Club (WOAC) would like to tell the Northants archery community about Boost Archery. This is a program being run by ArcheryGB nationally, to improve and encourage the uptake of our sport, especially at the junior level. It is open to all affiliated clubs and details can be found on the ArcheryGB website.

WOAC has a thriving junior ‘Colts’ Section with two designated coaches and over twenty enthusiastic juniors. Our lead junior coach applied for Boost funding which involved completing a short application form (two pages I believe) stating that we wished to introduce our Colts – at an early stage – to the different forms of archery and encourage different bow types in competitions. We subsequently received funding to the tune of £350 which has enabled us to purchase a compound, a longbow and two American Flatbows just for the use of the juniors in the Club. Up until now, while the club had these bow types available they were too powerful for junior use, but now they have their own and training has begun.

This is something all our County clubs have the potential to do and WOAC would like the clubs to be make aware of the scheme.

Details of the scheme can be found here http://www.archerygb.org/boost
